Teenager Tin Shu Min turned in a new national mark in the women's 20km race walking event yesterday, setting a time of 2:03:11 at the 76th Singapore Open Track and Field Championships.
The 19-year-old finished third in her race - which was held at Gardens by the Bay - behind Taiwan's Chang Chia Feng (1:56:13) and Myanmar's Than Than So (2:02:42).
Despite her record, Tin's time is some way away from the bronze medal time recorded at last December's South-east Asia Games, which was 1:40:15. The previous national record of 2:03:57 was set by Chong Fui Fung in 2004.
