SINGAPORE - More than 2,000 runners took off from the Marina Barrage (above) for the biennial Sundown Ultramarathon at 6pm on Saturday.
About 900 were attempting the 100km individual race, while the rest were running in two- or four-man relay teams.
The participants will run twice around a 50km loop, stretching from Marina Barrage through East Coast Park, before U-turning at Changi Coastal Road.
The first individual finisher was expected to finish at 2 this morning.
The Sundown Marathon, featuring the 42km, 21km and 10km races, was held in June.
