Waterpolo: Little splash from Singapore teams

Both Singapore teams lost their opening matches on the first day of the Asian Youth Water Polo Championships at the Toa Payoh Swimming Complex on Wednesday.

The Under-17 boys' lost 13-6 to Kazakhstan, while the girls' fell 12-5 to India.

Girls' captain Nikki Wei, 17, said: "Though we didn't achieve the result we wanted, we are satisfied with our performance.

"I think we may have been overwhelmed by the scale of the competition.

Looking at our match today, the competition is going to be tough.

"We have to work really hard to achieve the results we want."

The boys' will face Sri Lanka at 11.20am today, while the girls will take on Indonesia at 5pm.
