Wild West Willy looks ready to win

WILD WEST WILY looks ready to open winning accounts in Saturday's Class 4 event over 1,400m going by his one-round workout at Sungei Besi on Wednesday.

Taken out by apprentice Vikrammathithan Rasu, the six-year-old Australian gelding by Hurrican Sky cantered one round on the sand track and pulled up looking in good shape.

The going was good.

Wild West Wily, who arrived last November with two wins, a second and two thirds in 14 outings in Australia, has already had five runs in Malaysia for a second and a third. He finished in the money for the first time when second to Valentine Baby in a Class 4 event over 1,100m in good going in Kuala Lumpur in August and was only three-quarter of a length behind the winner who clocked 1:04.1sec.

Last time out, Wild West Wily, with top weight of 58kg and Noel Callow astride, ran a gallant third to Jean Francois in a Class 4 event over 1,500m in good going and was one and a quarter lengths behind the winner.

Trained by Shane Edwards, Wild West Wily has benefited from his two runs and should strike on Saturday.
