Woo exits after great fightback

Singapore golfer Jonathan Woo made a determined fightback, but it was not enough as he made his exit in the US Amateur Public Links Championship in Newton, Kansas.

Woo had qualified for the matchplay round after making the cut with rounds of 69 and 73 for an even-par 142 total and 21st spot (the cut was 147).

In the first matchplay event, he lost 2 and 1 to American Chelso Barrett after fighting back from four-down after six holes.

He had cut the lead to one through the 15th hole, but lost the 16th to Barrett from New Hampshire.

Woo next takes part in the US Amateur Championship in Atlanta from Aug 11 to 19.
