5 Singapore attractions ranked in TripAdvisor's Travellers' Choice Awards

SINGAPORE - A total of five Singapore attractions have achieved a spot or more in TripAdvisor's annual Travellers' Choice Awards.

Universal Studios Singapore emerged the top amusement park in Asia again, retaining its title for the second year running. Ocean Park and Hong Kong Disneyland came in first and second runners-up.

The Singapore Zoo took home two accolades at this year's awards. It bagged the Top Zoo in Asia award again, and moved up two places to be the third best zoo in the world.

Dr Cheng Wen-Haur, Chief Life Sciences Officer, Wildlife Reserves Singapore, said winning the two awards was a great honour and a nod to their work in wildlife conservation, education, and recreation.

He added: "As Singapore marks its 50th anniversary of independence in 2015, Singapore Zoo is proud to contribute towards highlighting the nation on the world travel map."

In the water park category, Resorts World Sentosa's Adventure Cove Waterpark and Wild Wild Wet in Pasir Ris each bagged a spot in the top 10 at ninth and tenth places, respectively. This is Adventure Cove Waterpark's first time making an appearance in the awards.

Opened in 2012, S.E.A. Aquarium was named the second best aquarium in Asia, up five spots from last year. Japan dominated in the aquarium category by taking seven spots out of 10, including the top ranking which was won by the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium in Motobu-cho, in Japan's southernmost prefecture.

The results of the awards were based on millions of reviews and opinions from TripAdvisor users over a 12-month period.

There were 533 global attractions recognised this year, including the top 25 in the world and dedicated lists for Asia, Canada, Europe, India, South America, South Pacific, the UK and the US.
