7 great day trip ideas near Bangkok

To many Singaporeans, Bangkok is a budget-friendly getaway destination, and we probably have our favourite spots to hit up whenever we are in the city.

According to travel site Tourupia, many tourists use Bangkok as a jumping-off point to more remote areas of Thailand, as well as neighbouring Laos, Cambodia, Burma, and even Vietnam. But there is quite a bit to do nearby.

If you are bored of the same old places in Bangkok and have a day or two to spare while on holiday, Touropia lists some of the most popular attractions nearby to explore on a day trip.

One beach attraction is Koh Larn, known as "coral island", which is a short ferry ride away from the mainland in Pattaya.

The seaside city of Pattaya itself is about a 90-minute drive from Bangkok.

The water at Koh Larn is calm and blue, with lots of restaurants available near the pier where the ferry to the mainland loads.

If you love looking at flora and fauna, and elephants in particular, Khao Yai National Park, located 175km northeast of Bangkok is the perfect place to spot them in their natural habitat.

The park is home to 400 species of animals, including over 200 elephants, according to Tourupia.

So if you'd like to get away from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok city life, here are some of the top day trips to consider.
