Batam to have Asia's first movie-themed holiday resort by 2018

SINGAPORE - A movie-themed holiday resort will be built on Batam's upscale Nongsa coastal area and is expected to be completed by Dec 2018.

Called The Scene, this integrated holiday resort will be developed by Infinite Studios, a media entertainment and services company, in partnership with Landstar Development.

Said to be Asia's first "liveable and film-able" movie town, the resort was inspired by classic European architecture by architect Piter Gan and Hollywood scenic artist, Peter Collias.

"The Scene's unique concept stems from the strong demand we are seeing in Asia for movie production, with more international directors now choosing to come to this region," said Mr Mike Wiluan, Chief Executive Officer of Infinite Studios in a statement to the media on Monday.

Mr Wiluan added they will turn what people see on screens into reality with this new resort.

The holiday spot will feature facilities such as all-day dining, a roof top bars and pool bar, wedding chapel, fitness and wellness centre, and shopping streets.

The Scene will be built near to several golf courses and feature views of the sea and lush landscapes.

Batam is located half an hour away from Singapore by ferry.
