SINGAPORE - Battlestar Galactica: Human vs. Cylon, will return to Universal Studios Singapore (USS) on May 27, after a two-year hiatus with brand new seats.
Dubbed the world's tallest dueling roller coasters by Resorts World Sentosa (RWS), the redesigned attraction now features two-seater cars instead of the previous four-seater ones.
"The new vehicles will allow riders to feel closer to the experience," said Mr John Hallenbeck, Senior Vice President of Attractions at Resorts World Sentosa. "It will be as if every rider has their own window seat," he added.
To celebrate the return of the star attraction to USS, Singapore residents can purchase a USS Adult Day Pass at $68, which comes with a free meal and gift. The promotion will run from May 27 to June 30, 2015.
The 90-second high-speed ride is themed after the American military sci-fi television series, Battlestar Galactica, which ended its run in 2009.
Thrill-seekers can choose to sit on the Cylons or Humans coaster, and be launched at high-speeds at the same time into a series of loops and inversions as they chase the opposing coaster.
The 42.7-metre tall ride opened in March 2010 and faced two closures during its run.
The ride was first shut down by the police on March 26, just a week after the ride opened, reported The Business Times.
Local media reports said that a seat had fallen off the ride during a routine safety test. No one was injured.
The attraction re-opened again in Feb 2011 after nine months of testing and over 13,000 rounds of simulation exercises, The Business Times added.
However, the attraction was closed again in July 2013. This time, RWS said it was due to an "attraction review" and declined to comment further, said My Paper.
