SINGAPORE - British Airways (BA) officially opened its newly-revamped lounge at Changi Airport Terminal 1 (T1) on Tuesday, Sept 29, 2015.

The lounge is part of BA's $11 billion investment programme to enhance their customers' travel experience, providing travellers passing through Singapore with a tranquil environment featuring state-of-the-art facilities to unwind, especially after a long flight.

The 1,005 sq m lounge is located on Level 3 of T1's Departure Transit Lounge, in a cosy corner close to the Thai Airways and Qantas lounges. It is open to all of BA's Business and First Class travellers (including codeshares) as well as oneworld frequent flyers.

Located inside the lounge is BA's Concorde Bar, the first Concorde Room outside of the UK and US. Limited to First Class customers, the Concorde Bar is accessible by receiving a passcode from the lounge reception.

Guests in the Concorde Bar can enjoy an exclusive, segregated, and serene environment where they can enjoy digital views of Singapore's skyline, allowing them to appreciate Singapore's architecture without leaving the airport.

Mr Robert Williams, head of BA's Asia Pacific sales, compared the lounge to a living room. Tastefully decorated with bright lights, comfortable furniture, and artwork by British and Singaporean artists such as Mr Simon Wee and Dr Brendan Neiland, the lounge allows travellers to relax and catch up on work before and after their flights.

To feel at home, guests can also look forward to snacks, fine wines and champagne, as well as hot and cold food from the buffet bars, with menus created by the BA chefs.

The lounge offers complimentary free Wi-Fi, two desktop computers, and a selection of Singaporean and British newspapers. Televisions tuned in to news and sports channels also help guests catch up on world events in real time.

"An airport lounge, for British Airways, is not just a place to get some free Wi-Fi and a decent cup of tea before you travel," said Mr WIlliams, in his opening speech.

He described the lounge as "an oasis of calm" during passengers' long journeys and a place for them to relax in exquisite surroundings.

BA's new lounge is part of a larger expansion in Singapore; in mid-November, BA will be introducing daily flights between Singapore and London on their new A380 aircraft, allowing the airline to carry more passengers to, from, and through Singapore.

To celebrate the opening of the new lounge, BA is offering its Club World customers a complimentary one-way upgrade to First Class on flights between London and Singapore, as well as a 60 pound (S$120) voucher and a complimentary one way airport transfer for guests staying at the Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London.

The offer must be booked by Oct 13, 2015 through travel agents, and is valid for travel from now to March 31, 2016.
