Disney comes to Changi Airport for Christmas festivities

SINGAPORE - Changi Airport will be converting its terminals into Disney-themed attractions for the upcoming Christmas period, from Nov 14, 2014 to Jan 5, 2015.

Travellers and visitors alike will be able to experience the displays set up by the Changi Airport Group, featuring characters such as Disney mascot Mickey Mouse.

The centrepiece of the event is the three-storey, interactive Neuschwanstein Castle at Terminal 3 Departure Hall - the inspiration for Disney's own Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella Castles, featured in many of its theme parks and movies. Visitors will be able to take a train ride inside that simulates the German countryside.

Visitors to the Neuschwanstein Castle will receive tickets which they can then redeem for a gift. Roving performers will also hand out gifts during their performances.

More displays are also available at the other terminals, such as snow Swiss chalets at the Terminal 3 transit area, traditional Japanese cottages and 5-metre-tall Spanish-themed Mickey and Minnie Mouse topiaries at Terminal 2, and a Broadway-styled New York City at Terminal 1.

Children are also invited to visit the Mickey Mouse Club House Bouncy Playground at Terminal 3 Departure Hall, a ball pit featuring a 3-metre-high slide. Children can also dabble with art with origami sessions and participating in a mural project.

In addition, various shows and activities are also planned for the Christmas fiesta. Visitors can catch multi-sensory shows which tell stories through lights and music, as well as stage performances by professional ventriloquists and jugglers. Meet-and-greet sessions with Mickey and Minnie Mouse are also to be expected.

A set of six limited edition Mickey and Minnie Mouse plush toys can be collected over the course of the Christmas period. A pair will be released every fortnight from now till Jan 4, 2015. A plush toy can be purchased for $3 when spending a minimum of $60 in a single receipt in Changi Airport, or $100 in the transit area. The first 1,000 Changi Rewards members who accumulate a nett spend of $1,200 during this promotional period will receive the full set for free.

To promote the event, Changi Airport will be launching a micro-site for users to send Disney-themed festive greetings to their friends and families around the world. Participants stand to win the full set of Mickey and Minnie mouse plush toys.
