'K-star Road' to entice tourists in Korea's Gangnam

The opening ceremony of K-star Road was held Thursday in Seoul's Gangnam district, the home of many K-pop entertainment companies.

The 1-kilometer stretch in Gangnam's Apgujeong-dong and Cheongdam-dong area is now adorned with giant toys, each one of them representing a leading K-pop star.

The creators hope the new development will attract hallyu tourists, just as the UK's Abbey Road, immortalized by the English rock band the Beatles, still attracts visitors.

A number of Korean hallyu stars attended the event on Thursday to share celebratory remarks.
