SINGAPORE - Luxury holiday retreat Six Senses Ninh Van Bay in Vietnam has won the Sexiest Bedroom in the World title at the second annual Smith Hotel Awards held in London on Thursday.
Organised by boutique hotel specialist Mr & Mrs Smith, the awards seek to recognise top players in the hotel industry around the world.
More than 950 hotels in the Smith collection were pitted against each other to compete in 12 specially curated categories.
The exclusive Vietnam holiday spot clinched the cheeky title with its gorgeous plunge pools, white sandy beaches and private cruises.
Reviews online also raved about its spectacular views of the mountain ranges of Nha Trang and of the East Vietnam Sea.
Suite 58 at Viceroy in New York and The Roccia Suite in Bellevue Syrene, Italy, were named runners-up in that category.
Largely dominated by European and South American winners, three more Asian spots also received prizes at the ceremony.
Bali's Como Shambhala Estate and Fusion Maia Resort in Vietnam were awarded runners-up in the Best Spa Hotel category, while Alila Villas Uluwatu in Bali was also named runner-up under the Best Smith Hotel 2014 category.
In his address, James Lohan, co-founder of Mr & Mrs Smith, said the award winners represent the "best of the best on the global hotel scene".
The hotels were shortlisted after voting from the public and the winners were picked by a panel of three specialist judges in each category to form the "ultimate hot list", he added.
The 12 categories highlight not only the best accommodations in the industry, but also hotels with the best dining and bar offerings, and establishments which were most family-friendly and pocket-friendly.
