Madame Tussauds makes Fandi Ahmad wax statue for Singapore outlet

SINGAPORE - Madame Tussauds Singapore will feature a wax statue of Singapore's very own football sensation Fandi Ahmad when it opens on October 25.

Fandi Ahmad's figure wears the Singapore Lion's 1994 kit which was recreated by Madame Tussauds for the display.

The figure depicts Fandi when the Singapore Lions won the 1994 Malaysia cup with Fandi as captain. He was voted Player of the Season and awarded a state medal, the Pingat Bakti Masyarakat (Public Service Medal) at the time.

Fandi Ahmad, said: "Looking at my wax figure is very exciting for me as it makes me relive that unforgettable moment in my career."

"I am glad to be able to play my part in developing and building Singapore's football scene and will continue to do so. I want the younger generation to know that with passion and hard work, we can achieve our dreams," he added.

Fandi chose to unveil the figure at ITE College Central (formerly known as the Singapore Vocational Institute), where he studied while pursuing his football career. He continues to hold football sessions for students as well as children from the community at ITE College Central.

Madame Tussauds Singapore will be located at Imbiah Lookout on Sentosa. In addition to Fandi Ahmad, other celebrities confirmed to feature in the attraction include Stefanie Sun, Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Beyoncé, David Beckham, Michelle Yeoh and Lady Gaga.

Early bird tickets for Madame Tussauds Singapore will be available online for S$20 per person.
