My favorite Hong Kong luxury spas
Shanghai chic. The Spa at Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong features touches inspired by 1930s Shanghai.

With budget airlines offering year-round affordable options to travel bugs, visiting Hong Kong is no longer a dream. The former British colony is teeming with Pinoy tourists who can never get enough of Asia's popular shopping and leisure Mecca.

In addition to the famed Disneyland that appeals to both the young and the young-at-heart, Hong Kong also has much to offer spaholics looking for a respite after a day of exploring the dynamic city. The mix of Eastern tradition and Western influence makes for an ideal melting pot of the best spa treatments one can imagine.

The following are three spas that I have tried and highly recommend, which you might want to check out the next time you're in Hong Kong.

The Mandarin Spa, Mandarin Oriental-As its tagline suggests, The Mandarin Spa of Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong offers a tranquil setting that takes your mind off the busy streets of Hong Kong.

The luxurious retreat is spread over two floors, with impressive interiors inspired by 1930s Shanghai. It has nine treatment rooms, including two couple's suites with private pools, a tea lounge, Chinese herbal steam room, sauna, indoor swimming pool, fitness centre and a spa boutique.

A gamut of world-class treatments awaits guests seeking physical, mental and emotional well-being. Developed in consultation with Traditional Chinese Medicine specialists and master aromatherapists, these sublime treatments offer simple yet effective and authentic spa experiences.

Guests are invited to arrive 45 minutes before the appointed time to they can unwind in the spa's heated water facilities to loosen the muscles in preparation for a deep therapeutic experience.

The Peninsula Spa-Within the imposing facade of The Peninsula Hong Kong lies a sprawling getaway that spells luxurious bliss. The Peninsula Spa serves a deeply personalized spa experience. It boasts 14 state-of-the-art treatment rooms, each stylishly designed and offering spectacular views of the famed Victoria Harbour.

I was delighted to find a number of Filipino therapists here. An extensive line of treatments is in the offing, ranging from rejuvenating facials to relaxing full body massages.

A must-try is their signature Half-Day Spa Journey package, which begins with a full body destress massage using luxurious essential oils, followed by an intensive facial that matches your skin type. Capping this relaxing journey is a light and healthy poolside lunch selected from the Naturally Peninsula menu.

Four Seasons Hotel Spa-Perched high above one of the world's busiest cities, the spa of the internationally acclaimed Four Seasons Hotel is home to distinctive spa therapies delivered by expertly trained staff. Its bright interiors offer a calming atmosphere amid the chrome and steel structures that dominate Hong Kong's bustling streets.

Their collection of treatments is designed to meet practically every need from head to foot. They have enlivening massages to relieve stress; advanced facial treatments to restore youthful glow; nail care and pampering hand treatments; and the essential grooming collection that features professional techniques in waxing.

The most interesting offering is their Seasonal Highlights, a featured treatment designed specifically for each season of the year. This season they feature Pure Therapy for Hands and Feet. It repairs damaged hands due to the cold season and recharges the body's energy levels with an indulgent foot therapy.

Every journey is an experience, and what better way to take in all the dynamic sights and sounds of the crown jewel that is Hong Kong than with a rejuvenated spirit, achieved through the spa treatments of these world-class facilities.
