The Padang administration in West Sumatra will develop six islands in a bid to help attract more visitors.
"We're in the process of searching for investors to develop the six islands," said Padang Marine Resources and Fishery Office head Zalbadri in Padang on Monday as quoted by Antara news agency.
"We've just given an offer to the Qatar Embassy," Zalbadri said, adding that the six islands were Bindalang, Pasumpahan, Sawo, Air, Pisang Ketek and Pisang Gadang.
He explained that the islands were rich in natural resources, but not many knew about them even though most had white sand, clean water and colorful coral reefs.
"Sawo, for example, is rich in ornamental fish due to its large coral reefs," he said.
