NUSAJAYA - Part of the Miniland attraction at the Legoland Resort here was damaged in a fire that broke out Thursday night.
Resort public relation manager D. Deviga confirmed that the fire broke out at the Miniland area around 8.30pm.
"There were no injuries, as the park was closed when the incident occurred," she said in a statement here Friday.
She added that only one Miniland cluster (Kuala Lumpur) was affected in the incident. The rest of Miniland was in perfect condition and has not been affected.
"The fire was extinguished quickly by trained members of staff and no guests were in the area or at the Park when it happened.
"The cause of the fire is currently being investigated by both the Park management and relevant authorities," she said.
Deviga also stressed that the necessary precautionary and safety measures were being taken to ensure the safety of the visitors and staff members.
She also confirmed that the affected area at the Kuala Lumpur Miniland cluster has been covered and cordoned off temporarily.
"The local fire department also arrived at the scene to further validate the safety of the area.
"Safety is a priority for Legoland Malaysia Resort and the resort will be opened to the public as normal on Friday," she added.
A spokesman from the Fire and Rescue Department confirmed that a team was deployed to the scene after a distress call was received around 8.40pm.
