SINGAPORE - A whole month away from school is not just a holiday for kids, but also a chance for parents to take a break from work and have some family fun.
According to a survey by TripAdvisor, Phuket and Langkawi have been named the most affordable places to visit in a list of popular holiday destinations for Singapore travellers.
Adding in hotel, airfare and meals, Langkawi turned out to be the more affordable destination of the two for a one-week trip, at $1,232.
The total cost of holidaying in Phuket is $1,325.
Both places had the lowest average nightly hotel rates of $74 and airfares of between $285 to $287.
Bali, which came in as the most popular holiday destination, beat both places with its average meal cost of $17.
In the survey, eight out of the 10 destinations were in Asia, including non-beach themed spots like Hong Kong, Seoul and Taipei.
London and Paris were the only non-Asian cities that made it to the list.
London was also the most expensive place to visit with the highest amounts for hotel, airfare and meals.
The average cost of a one-week trip in the British capital came up to a whopping $4,785.
Paris was the second most costliest destination, with the price of a one-week trip coming in just slightly lower at $4,366.
