TripAdvisor names 10 best hotels in Singapore

SINGAPORE - Homegrown hotel brands have came out tops along with international hotel chains in TripAdvisor's 13th annual Travellers' Choice awards.

Newly-opened Far East Hospitality AMOY bagged two awards for Top Hotel in Singapore and Best Hotel for Service in Singapore, while Lloyd's Inn won Best Bargain Hotel in Singapore. Both establishments have been opened for a year or less, according to TripAdvisor.

Mr Arthur Kiong, CEO of Far East Hospitality, said AMOY Hotel's unique heritage styling resonated with guests, and credited the staff at AMOY for their passion and hard work.

Luxury hotels in Sentosa were also honoured for their excellence.

Capella Singapore, with an average nightly rate of close to a $1,000, won the title of Best Luxury Hotel in Singapore.

Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa Resort & Spa was awarded the third place for Top Hotels for Families in Asia. It is the only Singapore-based establishment which received a placing in that award category.

Ms Cindy Tan, vice president for TripAdvisor (APAC), said the establishments which won are the "perfect inspiration for travellers thinking about their travel plans" in the new year.

On a global scale, the title of Top Hotel in the World was awarded to Gili Lankafushi Maldives which has an average nightly rate of $2,319.

The Place Luxury Boutique Villas in Ko Tao, Thailand, bagged a whopping four awards - Top Luxury Hotel in the World, Best Hotel for Service in the World, Top Small Hotel in the World and Best Hotel for Romance in the World.
