A tiny baby girl, weighing just 530gm when she was born five years ago at Kuala Lumpur General Hospital (HKL), was declared the country's smallest baby by the Malaysia Book of Records, reported Kosmo!
Voasha J. Kumar, a six-and-a-half-month premature baby, is the first child of J.K. Michael, 38, and K.M. Jashila Preya, 35.
They were from Kuala Lumpur but moved to Singapore more than three years ago.
Recalling the incident, Jashila said they had to make regular trips to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as Voasha was treated for seven months there.
"I am thankful to HKL for giving us the best treatment and experts to take care of our baby.
"At one point, I wanted to give up because her weight dropped to 480g, but my husband was convinced our baby was strong and would make it through," she said.
Previously, the country's smallest baby record was held by a 600gm baby born at the Damansara Specialist Hospital in Kuala Lumpur, in 2000.
