Ikea children's bed canopies recalled due to strangulation hazard

Ikea is recalling eight brands of children's bed canopies because of a potential strangulation hazard.

In a statement last Wednesday, Ikea said it has received reports of the canopies' nets being pulled into cots or beds and becoming entangled with infants' necks. No permanent injuries were reported and none of these cases occurred in Singapore.

The affected brands are Legendarisk, Minnen bed canopy set, Barnslig Boll, Minnen Brodyr, Himmel, Fabler, Tissla and Klämmig. They have been sold since 1996.

Ikea said that those who have bought an affected canopy should stop using it and return it for a full refund. For more information, customers can call Ikea's customer service at 6786 6868.
