Veteran actor Phua Chee Kian (pic), who is battling a relapse of nose cancer, needs financial aid for his medical treatment, China Press reported.

Phua was first diagnosed with the disease last year and had been on the road to recovery following medical treatment.

However, he suffered a relapse in May this year.

Actress Angela Chan Mee Ngoh said a charity dinner to raise funds for Phua would be held on Dec 28 in Kuala Lumpur.

Chan said Phua was the sole breadwinner of his family and had a 10-year-old daughter.

Despite his condition, Phua still insisted on taking part in a Chinese telemovie, Go Go Oh My God.

"I have been in the entertainment industry for 30 years. I love acting. I would like to continue acting if I could.

"But I am thin now. Many roles are not suitable for me. I hope I can find a suitable role in the future," said Phua.
