Moderate air quality in KL, Putrajaya, Selangor

KUALA LUMPUR - Most areas in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Selangor registered only moderate air quality yesterday because of haze. The Air Pollutant Index (API) in Port Klang was at 79, Shah Alam (73), Banting (70) and Kuala Selangor (56).

Putrajaya's API reading increased from Thursday's level, while the API reading for the city here also increased.

However, thunderstorms in the evening helped ease the hazy condition.

Meanwhile, an officer from the Media Coordination Division for the National Day celebrations said programmes would go on as planned as clear skies were expected today.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department has predicted clear and sunny skies early in the day and thunderstorms later in the evening. The air pollution level is categorised as good from zero to 50, moderate (51-100), unhealthy (101 to 200), very unhealthy (201-300) and hazardous (301 and more).
