A single mother went for a surgery to correct a shoulder disorder and, when the operation was over, was shocked to see a deep gash on her skull.
Azinah Aziz, 54, wants the public hospital to compensate her for the head injury, which she claimed was due to negligence by the surgeon and orthopedic staff.
"Something could have happened during the five hours I was under anaesthesia but nobody is telling me what occurred," she told Sinar Harian on Tuesday.
Azinah lodged a report against the hospital at the Sri Damansara police station on March 31, the day she was discharged after three days in the ward. She alleged the hospital was trying to hide something from her.
"I woke up from the operation feeling a burning sensation on my scalp. So, I asked my son to check and he found it was swollen and bleeding.
"The doctors and nurses at the ward also checked and discovered the swelling, but failed to find an explanation," she said, adding she had previously undergone thyroid surgery, which also took five hours, but nothing untoward happened.
