The Newsmaker: Feng Tianwei says she will only focus on the future

Singapore - It's been four months since she was dropped from the national team, but Singapore's top female paddler Feng Tianwei says that she still does not know the exact reason for her exclusion.

When the Singapore Table Tennis Association (STTA) announced the decision not to renew Feng Tianwei's contract in October last year, it sent shockwaves across the local sports fraternity.

Since then, speculations have been rife about what happened between STTA and Feng Tianwei, Singapore's most-bemedalled Olympian.

In an interview with "The Newsmaker", a new video series produced by Singapore Press Holdings' Chinese Media Group Digital, Feng Tianwei said she is unable to pinpoint the exact cause of STTA's decision to drop her.

However, she has no intention of pursuing the matter. She said, "To me, this incident is already in the past. It ended in 2016...I will only focus on moving forward, I have placed my fullest concentration on a new beginning in 2017."

Watch the video to find out more about how Feng Tianwei is coping after leaving STTA, her definition of a "glorious exit", and hear what she has to say in response to negative comments online.
