DL low-down: Its frame rate of 3.5fps has edged out all its rivals which are at 3fps or slower. This is the latest version of Canon's first budget DSLR, the EOS 300D, which rocked the DSLR market with its affordable price.

With the kit lens, the 12.2-megapixel 450D at 734g weighs less than the two prosumers here. It is a well-sorted out camera with a nice 3-inch LCD monitor. The EF S18-55IS kit lens has built-in image stabilisation, which was previously a premium lens feature. The LCD live view function allows it to be used as a compact.
