TOYOTA has joined a growing number of European carmakers to offer active head restraint.

Toyota's system has two parts. The first is a sensor unit built into the lower seatback. In a rear collision, the sensor unit triggers, via cable, the head restraint. By moving diagonally upward (30mm up and 25mm forward), the restraint quickly and securely catches the back of the head to prevent whiplash.
