Five held hours after gang-rape

BUKIT MERTAJAM, MALAYSIA - Five men who allegedly gang-raped an 18-year-old woman after robbing her and her fiance of their cash and valuables were arrested less than two hours after the incident.

Central Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Anil Shah Abdullah said police picked up 10 men, including the five who allegedly stopped the teenager and her fiance, in his 20s, as they were riding their motorcycle at Jalan Ara Kuda, Kubang Semang at about 3.40am on Wednesday.

He said the suspects, who worked as lorry drivers and contract workers, have been remanded until Tuesday to facilitate police investigations.

At a press conference ACP Mohd Anil said: "The culprits forced the couple to strip naked and photographed them using a cellular phone camera before taking the girl in their vehicle to Kulim, where they took turns to rape her in separate locations."

Her fiance, who was freed, lodged a report with us within minutes and a police party led by Insp Goh Kay Lun immediately launched an operation to nab the robbers.

He said police were looking for two more men to assist the their investigations.

They are Loo Ming Jong, 23, a lorry driver whose last known addresses are 78, Kg Lama, Lunas, Kedah and 418, Lorong Desa Makmur, 9/3, Taman Makmur, Lunas, Kedah and K. Ramachandran, 38, a labourer whose last known address is 265, Lorong 1/3, Taman Makmur, Lunas, to assist investigations.
