115 arrested in major M'sian anti-drugs ops

BESUT, MALAYSIA: Police arrested 115 people aged between 16 and 50 years believed to be involved in drug trafficking, drug abuse and motorcycle theft in a three-day operation that ended yesterday.

Deputy narcotics crime investigation department chief Deputy Supt Amran Ramli said among those arrested were three women, aged between 16 and 29 years, believed to be drug pushers.

Also arrested were 10 foreigners without travel documents who were also involved in drug abuse, he told a news conference yesterday.

The operation involved 300 personnel from the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department, Criminal Investigation Department, General Operations Force and the Federal Reserve Unit.

Police also seized two motorcycles believed to have been stolen, a car, RM20,317 in cash, believed to be proceeds from drug trafficking, some ganja and ecstasy pills.

DSP Amran said similar operations would be launched in other districts. - Bernama
