AN AUSTRALIAN was fined $2,000 for pushing an auxillary police officer who was trying to mediate a dispute between him and a cabby.
Craig Anthony Jenkins, 34, admitted to using criminal force on AETOS constable Mohamed Faizal Taban, 25, to deter him from carrying out his duty at Police Cantonment Complex on Oct 23 last year.
A magistrate's court heard that Mr Faizal was on duty at the carpark entrance of the New Bridge Road building when a taxi came along and sought his help over a dispute with the passenger, who appeared drunk.
After advising them, Jenkins, a project manager, paid his fare and the cabby drove off.
Suddenly, Jenkins with his fists clenched ran towards Mr Faizal, who took a few steps back and was pushed on the chest.
Jenkins could have been jailed for up to two years or fined or jailed and fined.
