ROME, July 23, 2008 (AFP) - A four-year-old French girl whose father beat her head against a marble monument in Rome came out of her coma, the ANSA news agency reported on Wednesday, citing hospital sources.
The girl was admitted Saturday after her father smashed her head against the base of the Vittoriano monument in Piazza Venezia in the city centre before being restrained by passers-by, according to police.
Wednesday's report gave no further details on her condition.
A senior officer with the carabinieri told AFP the child's mother had confirmed the father had a history of psychiatric problems.
