MALAYSIA - A 21-year-old clerk, who found a video clip of her husband having sex with his lover, blackmailed the woman for money instead of confronting him.

Siti Rohayu Mohd Yusoh was charged in the Johore Baru magistrate's court Monday with extorting money from her husband's 23-year old lover by threatening to expose the sex video.

Siti Rohayu who looked calm clad in a tudung and baju kurung claimed trial at the magistrate's court in Johor Baru.

She allegedly committed the offence at 12.30pm in Taman Medan Nusa Perintis in Gelang Patah.

Magistrate Mohd Fuad Abd Ghani said he was aware that the case may embarrass several parties.

"This is a very interesting case but the complainant needs to be advised that the tape will be displayed in open court.

"It may be embarrassing to her, and it is only right that she be told of this before the trial starts,

The extortion charge under Section 385 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to seven years, or a fine, or whipping, or any two of the punishments, upon conviction.

Hearing was set for Jan 1.
