A woman who was waiting in a car while her friend went on a quick errand got the shock of her life when a group of men dragged her out and sped off with the vehicle.

The victim, a Filipina who only wanted to be known as Maryann, was in the front passenger seat of the Perodua Kancil when the incident happened at 7.30pm on Tuesday at the Asia City complex.

She tried to pull out the ignition key but failed, and her attempts to fight the men off caused her to fall.

"I am not sure what happened after I fell.

"I think they almost ran over me when they reversed the car," she said.

A witness said he saw about four men approaching the car before pulling the woman out and speeding off towards the main road.

The victim's friend, only known as Junar, said he was only away for a few minutes and was shocked when he returned to find Marryan on the road surrounded by several people.

The victim who suffered light injuries, was sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in a Civil Defence Department ambulance where she received outpatient treatment.
