ONE look was all it took from a con man known as Datuk Azmi to charm and cheat a married couple of RM80,000 ($32, 750), reported Kosmo!.

It began when the couple advertised their house in TTDI Jaya, Shah Alam, for rent when a man called Shakri, in his 40s, said he wanted to buy the house on behalf of his employer, Datuk Azmi.

The victim, known only as Rashid, 50, said Shakri introduced Datuk Azmi to him and his wife during a meeting at a hotel at Mid Valley.

"When Datuk Azmi looked into our eyes, it was as though we could not remember anything and could only follow his orders," he said, adding that he gave RM80,000 that he had withdrawn from several banks to Shakri after agreeing to "lend" him the money.

Rashid said he only realised he had been cheated when he reached his car and suddenly began sweating profusely.

Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid confirmed receiving a report on the incident.
