KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA: The posh Desa Damansara Condominium in Damansara Heights here yesterday was a hive of activity with police vehicles going in and out of the compound. The condominium is believed to be where Parti Keadilan Rakyat adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim allegedly sodomised his aide.
Residents there were also startled to see media personnel grouped outside when they exited the premises.
The residents, comprised mainly of expatriates with a sprinkling of locals, more often than not stopped to ask the security guards what was happening when they halted at the entrance.
The vehicle of former Umno party secretary-general, Datuk Seri Radzi Sheikh Ahmad, was also seen departing the premises although he declined to speak to the Press.
Police entered the premises about 12.10pm and spent more than four hours searching a condominium on the 11th floor of Block 5. It's learnt that one condominium unit costs in excess of RM2 million.
A police officer was also seen taking away closed-circuit television video recordings from the guardhouse and the visitors logbook.
However, it is unclear if police took anything from the condominium itself.
There are three CCTVs at the entrance to the condominiums as security is tight. The police party departed at 4.20pm although about 10 minutes later, the police forensic vehicle returned again and spent about 30 minutes inside before leaving the premises.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that police have interviewed Anwar's aide and recorded his statement as part of the ongoing investigations.
It is also learnt that they intend to interview several other relevant parties.
Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar confirmed this but declined to elaborate.
It is, however, learnt that police are also investigating to ascertain allegations that the former aide had been coerced into lodging a police report against Anwar.
