Fires that break out mysteriously and missing money have forced a family in Kampung Charok Meranti, Bandar Baharu in Kulim, Kedah, to move out of the house they bought two years ago.
Mohamad Sidek Hamid, 49, his wife Fauziah Ishak, 48, and their six children have vacated the brick house where strange things happen and have been living in a hut since 2007.
"I have called more than 100 bomoh, including soime from Sabah and Sarawak, as well as Thailand, Indonesia and Myanmar, and spent more than RM50,000, ($20,440) but the mysterious fires still happen in the house," he told Bernama.
Recently, a fire broke out in the main bedroom of the house.
"The mysterious fires often broke out when my family and I were out at work," he said.
He said a fire and rescue team from Serdang went to the house to investigate and a police report was lodged.
"I found the copy of the police report, which I kept in a drawer of a cupboard, burnt, but not the cupboard," he added.
Mohamad Sidek said the fires started breaking out soon after the family moved into the house which he bought for RM40,000 through the People Friendly Scheme under the Prime Minister's Department in 2007.
He said his family were traumatised and afraid by the incidents because, besides the fire, they also found their money missing.
