SingHealth boss, 49, dies

SINGHEALTH'S group chief operating officer, Dr Wong Yue Sie, died on Friday after suffering a massive stroke a week earlier. Dr Wong, 49, who underwent emergency surgery, had not regained consciousness.

Before joining Singapore General Hospital (SGH) in October 2006, Dr Wong served as a medical officer in the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) from 1985 to 2006. He was the chief of the SAF Medical Corps from 2001 to 2006.

In August 2008, Dr Wong was seconded to Ren Ci Hospital as its chief executive officer (CEO). He saw through the completion and opening of Ren Ci Community Hospital on Jan 11 this year.
