SINGAPOREANS who have successfully applied for a passport will enjoy the additional option of collecting them from selected SingPost outlets from Friday, the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said yesterday.

Passport applicants will be informed about their eligibility for the service through the passport- collection notification card, or by e-mail, if they had applied for their passport through ICA's Application for Passport Online Electronic System.

Those who wish to opt for the service can select their preferred venue for collection through the e-Appointment system available on ICA's website.

Applicants can still collect their passports at the ICA Building in Lavender Road after the introduction of the new service. SingPost has designated 20 outlets, including those in Thomson Road, SingPost Centre and Ang Mo Kio Central, for the passport-collection service.

A promotional rate of $8 will be charged for the collection of passports until Dec 31. This will be increased to $10 from Jan 1, said a SingPost spokesman.

However, the collection service will not be extended to all passport applicants.

For instance, applicants who do not have good-quality fingerprints, and those with children below the age of six, will not be eligible, said ICA.
