KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA - The teacher who used racial slurs on students of a school in Banting should be sacked, said Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department S.K. Devamani. He said this would send home the message that the authorities would not tolerate such actions. The Cameron Highlands Member of Parliament said the teacher should not be let off lightly with a transfer and reprimand.

Speaking after the MIC central working committee here yesterday, Devamani said the teacher's actions could affect the relationship between parents of students and the school.

Meanwhile, MIC Youth chief T. Mohan will send a memorandum to Education Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein on the movement's dissatisfaction over action taken against the teacher.

He said the youth wing had also received reports from parents on cases of students being subjected to racial slurs.
