THE yellow post-it notes plastered the grand old dame - in its classrooms, its tuckshop, and even its toilet cubicles.

Every little note was pasted on its chosen spot for a reason; each contained a priceless message, a favourite memory cued from carefree days now long gone.

The notes were written by 300 old boys, current students and parents, who came together last Friday and Saturday for Yellow Fever, a unique farewell party to the Anglo Chinese Junior School (ACJS) campus they love so well.

Before the end of the year, ACJS will move from its premises at Peck Hay Road, near Newton Circus, to the former Monk's Hill Secondary School at Winstedt Road, a stone's throw away.

It moved to its present location 23 years ago. Now, the lease is expiring.

An old boy and event organiser Edwin Lim, a 26-year-old engineer, said: 'A building is like a collection of memories. We wanted to remember the school by sharing the stories it holds within its walls.'

Visitors found themselves like Hansel and Gretel, following a trail of yellow notes, re-exploring every nook and cranny, and laughing at old jokes and recollections.

Mr Marc Lai, an old boy who is now a junior college student, said: 'It's inspiring to read about the stuff that happened before I was here. It makes me realise that the things which meant a lot to me also meant a lot to others.'
