A SCHOOL counsellor managed to dissuade an 11-year-old pupil from jumping off a four-storey school building, Harian Metro reported.

The report said the counsellor saw the girl sitting on the ledge of a window at about 10.45am on Friday.

The counsellor rushed over with another teacher to persuade her not to jump.

It was reported that the girl was facing problems with her family.

Bachok Fire and Rescue Services chief Bahri Mohd Noor confirmed receiving a distress call at about 11.05 am that day.

Bahri lauded the counsellor for acting quickly, thereby preventing a tragedy.
