WASHINGTON - A STRONG earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 struck off the west coast of Indonesia's Sumatra island on Friday, the United States Geological Survey said.
The quake, which occurred at 6.55am local time (7.55am Singapore time), had a shallow epicentre at 10km deep and was centred 152km south-west of Padang in Sumatra, the USGS said. -- REUTERS
