With a reputation for being a playboy and having countless celebrity girlfriends linked to him, the recent sex scandals almost do not seem to be a surprise for Edison Chen’s notorious behaviour.

Apart from Gillian and Bobo, the Canadian-born Chen has also been linked with stars including actress Maggie Q, Cecilia Cheung and Stephy Tang since he entered showbiz in 2000.

One of the actor’s close friends claimed to the media that 28-year-old Edison likes to take intimate photos with his women and show them to a select group of friends.

This pal added that at least 14 female celebs have taken such photos with Edison.

His appeal lies in his mischievous eyes, crooked grin, fluent English with a Canadian accent and a rebel image.

In 2002, he said during a radio interview in Taiwan that he lost his virginity when he was 13 and had his first one-night stand when he was 15.

He also told a Taiwanese magazine in 2006 that his favourite sport was “making love”.

In a 2006 interview, he said with a chuckle: “I like every kind of girl, it changes every day... So I’m a very bad person, always changing.”

Ever the ladies’ man, Edison said in an interview with Theme Magazine that he loves spending time with his lady, just hugging her in his room and just being silly with her.

When asked what was on his to-do list, Edison said “And oh yeah…love my girl…WUDDUP V”.

Edison is currently dating Vincy Yeung, the niece of Emperor chairman Albert Yeung.

He announced this last year that they have been a couple for the past three years.

On an entertainment show in Taiwan, Edison disclosed that he planned to marry Vincy and that his previous playboy and womanizing habits have stopped because of his love for his current girlfriend

Edison reportedly left Hong Kong for Boston on Wednesday (Jan 30) to be with Vincy after the release of the sex photos.

Edison was supposed to fly to Canada to spend Chinese New Year with his mother, but he changed his plans to be with Vincy instead.

A friend told the media that Edison felt depressed and guilt-ridden because of the scandal.

He added that Edison had been unable to sleep and had called to speak to the female stars involved.

Asked about the pictures, Vincy reportedly told the Hong Kong press that she didn’t care about what Edison had done in the past and that she trusted him.

Meanwhile, Edison has apologised for the images.

In a video statement on Monday (Feb 4) Edison called the postings of the photographs 'intentionally hurtful and malicious'.

"I hereby use this opportunity to apologise to anyone who has been affected by this strange, strange ordeal," Chen said.
