SINGAPORE - More than 100 people gathered at Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park Friday morning to plant 47 trees in celebration of Singapore's 47th birthday.

Shimizu Corporation and their subcontractor partners took part in National Parks Board's (NParks) Plant-A-Tree Programme. They also collectively pledged $29,100 to Garden City Fund's (GCF) Plant-A-Tree Programme and other outreach programmes.

This is the second year the company has pledged donations towards GCF. Last year, they raised $26,000 for the Mandai Reforestation Project which resulted in a total of 220 trees planted within the affected forested area.

GCF is a registered charity established by NParks in 2002, and aims to better engage members of the public through conservation efforts, research, outreach and education.
