HONG KONG - What nude photo scandal?
Actress Cecilia Cheung, one of the big names involved in the scandal, has quietly gone back to work and filmed an advertisement for a feminine hygiene wash for a Chinese company, said Oriental Daily News last Saturday.
She also announced through her manager that contrary to tabloid talk, all was well between her and her husband, pop star Nicholas Tse.
'Nicholas has been with Cecilia every day. Their relationship is good and stable,' her manager was quoted as saying by the newspaper.
Break-up rumours have been rife since photos seeming to show a nude Cheung were posted online last month. Some reports said the couple had been hiding in a friend's home, but sleeping in separate rooms. Others said Tse had chased Cheung out of their home.
But Oriental said that actually, he had been supportive of his wife.
In a show of unity, the couple, both 27, also sent flowers to Heavenly King Aaron Kwok's concert last Thursday. Their card for Kwok was signed 'Ting Fung and Pak Chi', their Chinese names.
The report said Cheung was still an advertisers' darling and had three to four more contracts to appear in commercials for products such as motorcycles and socks.
However, Sunday was another bad press day for actor Edison Chen when he did not return from Boston to face the media as expected.
Media Asia studio head Peter Lam, who owns the company managing Chen, denied the actor was staying away because of a reported threat by gangsters or fears that he would be arrested.
Mr Lam said Chen had matters to attend to before he could fly back to Hong Kong.
The actor is believed to have taken the photos of himself and women including celebrities Cheung, Bobo Chan, Gillian Chung and his girlfriend Vincy Yeung - which were leaked onto the Net.
He has said he has been dating Yeung, now 19, since 2004, which raises questions of whether she was old enough when she was photographed in the nude.
He could be charged if he was found to have had sex with a minor or sent out nude photos online, said Ming Pao Daily News.
Chen, 27, was said to have gone to Boston, where Yeung goes to university, to meet her after the scandal broke.
Both Ming Pao and Oriental said he departed from Boston last Friday.
But Oriental said he was headed not for Hong Kong, but for Vancouver, to help his mother move house.
The newspaper, quoting unnamed sources, said he had tried to ask Yeung to marry him, but she said no even when he threatened to kill himself.
Last weekend, there was talk that pop star Chung, 27, had married her reported beau, singer Juno Mak, 24. But their agents said they knew nothing of this.
