Why community funding for madrasahs still needed

ALTHOUGH most Muslim children attend public schools, the madrasah system still has an important role in grooming religious leaders and scholars for the community.

The Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (Muis) yesterday made a case for why these privately run religious schools should also get support from the Mosque Building and Mendaki Fund (MBMF).

It did so in a joint statement with self-help group Mendaki.
