A PROPOSAL to ban express buses from Malaysian roads after midnight has upset bus operators and regular travellers to Malaysia.

Bus operators in Singapore told The Straits Times the proposal was impractical, with up to 20 per cent of coach companies here running trips after midnight.

Malaysian Transport Minister Ong Tee Keat had earlier said his ministry is contemplating the proposal, in a bid to improve road safety.
