Clinic assistant Sharin Tan became one of the first people in Singapore to get the H1N1 pandemic vaccine.

DaySpring Medical Clinic received its 1,500 doses yesterday morning. Dr Lynette Ng vaccinated her front-line staff to protect them against the H1N1 bug that is now spreading across the world in its second wave.

The Health Ministry began distributing the vaccine to clinics around the island yesterday, once it received the all-clear from the manufacturer.

PANDEMIC flu vaccination started in Singapore yesterday, with staff at DaySpring Medical Clinic in Pasir Ris Central being among the first to get their shots.

'Protecting our own is definitely the thing to do,' said Dr Eric Chiam, a general practitioner with the three DaySpring clinics.

The 22 front-line staff will be dealing with many sick people, including those infected with the pandemic flu, he explained.
