Sub-contractor acquitted of harbouring overstayer

OPPOSITION party member Mohamed Jufrie Mahmood, 59, was yesterday cleared of two charges of harbouring and employing an immigration offender.
District Judge Toh Yung Cheong said in an oral judgment following a six-day trial that reasonable doubt had been raised in the prosecution's case.
He found that the evidence of the Bangladeshi worker alleged to have been harboured and employed by Mr Jufrie was not convincing enough, nor was it corroborated.
