Sailing: Gold for Jia Yi and Jonathan

National sailors Loh Jia Yi and Jonathan Yeo clinched the 420 boys' gold medal at the Isaf Youth Sailing World Championships in Tavira, Portugal, yesterday.

The pair won their last two races of the nine-race series to top the 32-strong fleet with 39 points. They edged out Malaysian duo Mohammad Faizal Norizan and Ahmad Syukri Abdul Aziz, who finished second with 44 points, while Japan's Ibuki Koizumi and Kotaro Matsuo came in third with 50 points.

Another Singaporean Ryan Lo won a bronze medal in the boys' Laser Radial.

The results helped Team Singapore secure sixth place for the Nations Trophy - the Republic's best combined showing at the championships. Spain finished first overall with France in second and Israel third.
